YouTube is a free video sharing website that makes it easy to watch and share videos online. On YouTube it is also possible to upload your own video and make it visible for others.

What is YouTube?

It was created in 2005 and almost entirely dominates the online video market, with viewers who watch almost 6 billion of hours every month there. YouTube was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, who were previously employees of the company PayPal.

YouTube is so popular because of their users, which upload roughly 100 hours of videos every minute. Most importantly is the sheer variety found on the site. From cats and fashion vloggers to guitar tutorials and black holes, you can find anything on YouTube.

The most important thing about YouTube is that you can actually choose what you want to see and when you want to see it. It’s a freeing way to experience of content compared to something like cable television. Although the variety of videos is a big advantage of YouTube, remember that not everything is appropriate for everyone. Thankfully content can be restricted to different ages, and some content is outright forbidden.
