New likes and comments metrics

2026.10.20

Meta now provides a more accurate data source for likes and comments. Sotrender now includes interactions with content wherever it appears on Instagram, including when it is promoted. These counts give you a fuller picture of how people engage with posts and Reels. The update may also affect Engagement Rate (ER) and Activity Index. A higher number after the update does not necessarily mean your audience has become more active. It may reflect more complete data on interactions with promoted posts.

We’re also updating data for older posts and Reels. We can’t tell which days their likes and comments were added, so we assign the counts we receive to the day each post or Reel was published. For current posts, we continue to record increases on the day we observe them. As a result, daily likes, comments, Engagement Rate (ER), and Activity Index for past periods may change.
