Are you trying to update some outdated information on Facebook? If you recently changed your contact information such as your email, you should change it on Facebook as well.

Keeping your information up to date is necessary for a few different reasons. In case there’s a security issue, you will be notified directly through your email or phone number. On the other hand, if someone is having difficulties looking you up on Facebook, they could do it using a currently active email.

With that said, we can show you what settings you have to go through to change your Facebook email.

Settings

Go into Settings and scroll down to Settings & Privacy, then select Settings.

Pick Personal Information, this will then take you to the section where you can edit your name, email address, and phone. number. There are other options available as you can see, such as confirming your identity and deactivating your account.

Unfortunately, it does not allow you to change your Facebook email directly. First, you must add a new email address and confirm your Facebook password. After you have done that, you can remove the old email.

Finally, you will be able to choose who can see your email. If you keep looking through your privacy settings, you can also modify who can look you up using the contact information you have provided.

On a positive note, Facebook’s user interface for your phone and your desktop should have the same layout for Settings. That means there should be no confusion whether you’re doing this on a desktop or phone application.
