Sometimes we want to share something interesting to us on Twitter – and it doesn’t have to be a Tweet. Twitter lets you paste links on Twitter if you want to share external content with your Twitter followers.

Through the Web:

  • Open Twitter on your preferred browser.
  • Type or paste the link URL into the Tweet box.
  • Note that a URL of any length will be shortened to 23 characters, even if the link itself is less than 23 characters long.
  • Click Tweet.

Through the App:

  • Open Twitter App and begin a new text message.
  • Type or paste the link URL into the Tweet box.
  • Links will be shortened with Twitter’s link shortener (t.co) wherever you post them. Some clients will adjust your character count as you compose a Tweet; some won’t.
  • Tap Tweet.

Remember that when viewing the Tweet on twitter.com, the original URL (or shortened version of the original URL) will be displayed. And always make sure the websites you are linking to are safe. Don’t put your followers at risk!
