{"id":56859,"date":"2025-11-04T15:14:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T14:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/?p=56859"},"modified":"2025-11-12T11:27:02","modified_gmt":"2025-11-12T10:27:02","slug":"facebook-api-changes-product-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/2025\/11\/facebook-api-changes-product-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Facebook API Changes and New Data in Sotrender [Product Update]"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Starting November 15, 2025, Facebook will introduce several API changes that directly affect the availability of certain metrics in Sotrender and other social media analytics tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is an overview of the changes that will take effect in Sotrender on November 13, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>You can find full details about these API updates on <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.facebook.com\/docs\/platforminsights\/page\/deprecated-metrics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Facebook\u2019s official page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Removal of the Fans Metric<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Beginning November 13, 2025, the Fans metric will no longer be available. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll still be able to analyze the Followers metric, which will remain accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This change is part of Facebook\u2019s gradual transition to the New Page Experience (NPE), where only the number of followers is available. In recent months, Facebook\u2019s API has already been returning follower counts in response to fan count queries for most pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of this update, metrics based on fan count will be recalculated in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sotrender<\/a>. From now on, Engagement Rate for Facebook and Relative Interactivity Index for Facebook will be calculated using the number of followers rather than fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What&#8217;s more:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Fans by country will now become Followers by country.\n<ul>\n<li>The Top languages metric will be removed from this section (no longer available via API).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For some metrics, the range of available historical data may be shortened \u2013 data will be available from the moment we started collecting the specific metric.\n<ul>\n<li>For followers and related metrics, most profiles will have around two years of historical data, or data available from the moment the profile was added.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Changes to Impression Metrics<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The method and data source for impressions at both the profile and post level will be updated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Profile-level impressions should now align more closely with the data shown in Facebook\u2019s Business Manager.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Viral impressions metric will be removed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A split between organic and paid impressions will be added.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>[Coming soon] A new breakdown will show impressions from followers vs. non-followers, helping you see whether posts reached new audiences or mostly engaged existing followers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>New Reels Views Data<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, starting in November, we\u2019re introducing more detailed Reels views data for public profiles \u2013 independent of the API changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This update means more complete insights for both your own and competitors\u2019 profiles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Full Reels views metrics will now be available for your own connected profiles.
