However, almost none of these will teach you how to do it perfectly for your own company. Ultimately, you\u2019ll make some of the biggest mistakes in marketing if you\u2019re not careful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s impossible to get everything right the first time, it\u2019s just a natural way of learning things. But if you know about some of them, you can avoid making some of those mistakes. Since there are a variety of mistakes and it would take forever to go over all of them, we\u2019ll go over some of the biggest mistakes marketers make. Let\u2019s get started!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><b>Don\u2019t know who they\u2019re talking to<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019ve repeated this many times, but only because it\u2019s so crucial: you need to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/get-to-know-target-audience\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">know who your target audience is<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This is actually one of the biggest mistakes marketers make. Your ad creative could be a valuable asset, but that\u2019s only true <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.advertisingweek360.com\/right-creative-wrong-audience-whos-really-seeing-your-ads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">if the right people are seeing it<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This is something to consider when you start to plan your next ad campaigns and how to narrow down your audience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So what should you be doing to get to know them? To briefly summarize, you need to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.alexa.com\/types-of-market-segmentation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create buyer personas<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Research your industry<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Analyze your audience<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use targeted ads on the right social media platforms<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Without getting to know them, you\u2019ll <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.business2community.com\/marketing\/3-target-audience-problems-avoid-01177657\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">misunderstand their needs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and have spent time and your ad budget targeting people who were never going to buy your product in the first place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your social media profiles can give you a detailed insight into your target audience. Analyzing your audience can be done in two ways: <\/span><b>you can use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luzmo.com\/blog\/embedded-analytics-tools\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">embedded analytics tools<\/a> in the social media platforms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> like Instagram or Facebook Insights, but there are quite a few obstacles when you use these tools.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, <\/span><b>Instagram Insights doesn\u2019t let you export your data<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, so you will have to spend a significant amount of time <\/span><b>each week manually writing down your metrics<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. At times, they could neglect some of the platforms that you\u2019re supposed to be active on.<\/span><b> Of course, you shouldn\u2019t have an account on every social media platform if your audience isn\u2019t there. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you don\u2019t regularly make videos, YouTube isn\u2019t all that necessary for your brand. These are some basic things to consider.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It becomes an issue when you\u2019re posting <\/span><b>content that has no common theme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and your profile just looks sloppy. At some point, you risk posting about the same thing way too often. Repetitive posts bring very little value since they\u2019ve been there, done that. Of course, this doesn\u2019t mean you shouldn\u2019t stick to an overall theme, but you should consider keeping the content fresh, checking what\u2019s trending in your field, and which profiles are doing it right.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most people who have spent time on Instagram remember the #SaltBae guy. Just use common sense.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Not anticipating changes in their niche<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like we said before, it\u2019s important that you keep up with trends in your field but with careful consideration. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/2017\/02\/take-advantage-of-the-buzz-with-real-time-marketing\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Real-time marketing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can be great when you want to post about how your product fits in with what\u2019s currently going on in the world and real events.
