Managing ad comments is an important component of a successful social media strategy. If you don\u2019t engage with your fans or take care of their consumer needs, what\u2019s to stop them from going to another business that will?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/2017\/07\/brands-online-reputation-matters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Managing your brand\u2019s reputation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and staying on your customers\u2019 good side is crucial. Depending on the content of the comment, you have a few different options on how you can handle it. If it\u2019s a simple miscommunication issue, you can resolve it fairly quickly. However, if their complaint is especially serious, you should be prepared to handle it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The important thing is that you<\/span><b> make sure that the fans get the answers and help they need<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Otherwise, they can go over to another brand that will pay attention to them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another thing you should consider when running ads is how you can answer any queries users have. Before they make a purchase, they\u2019ll have some questions about the functionality of the product. Alleviate any concerns, respond in a timely manner, and make sure to be consistent in your responses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Obviously, not every comment that someone will post will be productive or legitimate. Some people might just add offensive content just for the sake of it. We suggest you check out our previous post to learn more about that specifically. \ud83d\ude09<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Dark posts &#8211; what they are and why brands use them<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You\u2019ve heard the term \u201c<\/span><b>dark post<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d for sure. It\u2019s one of those things that you know about, but you might be unfamiliar with how it functions. Basically, dark posts are <\/span><b>posts that you didn\u2019t publish on your page <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">but<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">allow you to reach a larger audience. Actually, when they\u2019re scrolling through their feed,<\/span><b> it looks pretty much like a normal post<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Facebook does allow you to manage dark posts in their <\/span><b>Ads Manager<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but there are easier ways of managing comments on those posts. First of all, you can see the full post, including the information that it was sponsored and the reach it got. Another thing that will help you decide on who to answer first is the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/2020\/02\/sentiment-analysis-in-sotrender\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\"><b>social sentiment of the comments<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The machine-learning model will save you time in deciding which comments need to be dealt with immediately.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How does social sentiment work in our app? Our R&amp;D team fed the model large amounts of data and trained it to recognize language that conveys positive, neutral, and negative emotions. How frequently did your moderator activity adapt to your audience\u2019s activity? Let\u2019s start with good examples. If you have an angry customer on your hands, you need to be able to resolve the issue before it spirals out of control.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Samsung\u2019s case, they\u2019re quite a large company that sells a variety of products. They\u2019re no stranger to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/2017\/01\/why-the-samsung-galaxy-note-7-kept-exploding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">scandals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and issues over the years, so they had to learn how to manage potential crises.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/samsung-cs-0.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-40845 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/samsung-cs-0.png\" alt=\"Angry customer on Samsung's Facebook Page\" width=\"521\" height=\"470\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/samsung-cs-0.png 608w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/samsung-cs-0-475x429.png 475w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 521px) 100vw, 521px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this example, one of their customers had a problem with getting refunded, and the Samsung representative did a few things you should learn:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Address the customer by name<\/strong>. That way, it won\u2019t feel like they\u2019re spamming the same message to every disgruntled customer,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Signed their initials<\/strong> so it\u2019ll be easier to find out who handled the case later,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Redirected the conversation to their DMs.<\/strong> It can get easy for the angry customer to get heated and rile up the others.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By doing this, the <strong>customer will actually get responses to their problem, instead of hashing out private details in a public space<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now check out how Xbox is responding to their positive feedback. Since they\u2019re a gaming console, they understand that they shouldn\u2019t just respond to the negative feedback. It actually works in their favor if they have some banter between them and their fans.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/xbox-banter-0.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-40847 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/xbox-banter-0.png\" alt=\"Xbox interacting with fans on their Facebook Page\" width=\"500\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/xbox-banter-0.png 616w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/xbox-banter-0-475x409.png 475w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another great thing to note is that Xbox has a private support group on Facebook that you can join. They have over 100 new posts a day, and the customers can get help from both other gamers and the company. It&#8217;s a more intimate way of engaging with customers and providing user-specific help.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Ignoring your comments? Not the best look<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are situations where brands that are especially well-known don\u2019t seem to interact with their customers at all. Here are two examples of where Apple\u2019s strategy went wrong.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/apple-angry-comments-0.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-40841 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/apple-angry-comments-0.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"594\" height=\"414\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/apple-angry-comments-0.png 594w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/apple-angry-comments-0-475x331.png 475w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This customer is obviously upset, but there was no response from Apple on their Facebook Page. There were other complaints, and it doesn\u2019t make the company look good. Another issue they faced is more political, over their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/technology-50573069\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">decision to change the Crimea map<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to be included as part of Russia.
