Now, we would like to introduce you to our newest feature: sentiment analysis in Sotrender!<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is sentiment analysis?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social media managers, moderators, and CS specialists have to be in the know about the company\u2019s image online. One way of doing so is by <\/span><b>tracking reactions and feelings about posts on social media<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This is essentially what sentiment analysis is: it analyzes the <\/span><b>emotional charge of your users\u2019 comments<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So what do we mean by \u201csentiment analysis\u201d from Sotrender\u2019s perspective and what does it do?<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Automatic analysis <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of a piece of text to identify emotional charge (\u201cnegative\u201d, \u201cneutral\u201d, or \u201cpositive\u201d). This includes labeling an entire group of comments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Task prioritization<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by <\/span><b>filtering comments<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ability to <\/span><b>monitor company image<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ensure quality of moderator or CS specialist responses<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But don\u2019t worry, we will explain each of these points in detail.<\/span><!-- end HubSpot Call-to-Action Code --><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We instinctively know that specific words have an emotional charge. <\/span><b>Sentiment analysis recognizes and quantifies emotional states<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that are directed at a post or comment. Posts containing words such as \u201cthank you\u201d and \u201cawesome\u201d would be labeled as positives. Whereas, posts containing words such as \u201chate\u201d and \u201clow quality\u201d would clearly be labeled as negative.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our model is based on an algorithm that automatically comes up with how each word in the sentence contributes to the sentiment of the whole text. The more data is used to train our model, the more confident it is about specific labels. Ultimately, we choose the label with the highest confidence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-39631 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"436\" height=\"277\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You\u2019re not a robot, though. You can\u2019t analyze so many comments at a time and calculate the sentiment efficiently on your own. However, AI and machine learning models can help businesses detect the emotional charge of a comment relatively quickly (with the right amount of training and quality datasets).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before the model even starts the assessment of sentiment, it detects whether the text is in Polish or English. Of course, if there is a demand for it, we can create a model per language. When using the application, you may see the label \u201cundefined\u201d because our sentiment model can only assign sentiment to comments written in these two languages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sotrender\u2019s model will label this text content as \u201cnegative\u201d, \u201cneutral\u201d or \u201cpositive\u201d. This makes it easier to gather statistics about your comments in <\/span><b>Sotrender\u2019s social inbox analytics report<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The more content (also known as training data in the Machine learning domain) you put into the model, the more confident the model becomes about its choices. Simply select the accurate label from the dropdown menu. The model will start to learn why one object is positive in one setting, and negative in another. It will become more accurate at detecting the subtleties of sentiment in natural language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For now, we have only prepared an English and Polish sentiment analysis capability. This is definitely a plus, even for English speakers who use a different dialect and ways of expressing themselves.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image9.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-39637 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image9.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"428\" height=\"636\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sentiment of multiple comments<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To properly understand a conversation, <\/span><b>you need to see the full context<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Usually, you will see users posting multiple comments back and forth. Those comments are likely to have a similar sentiment (either all positive or all negative). This aspect of our sentiment analysis allows you to save time analyzing each individual comment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once a cluster of comments has <\/span><b>one or more comments<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that are negative, the \u201c<\/span><b>group<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d will be automatically labeled as negative. Even if you had multiple positive or neutral comments, the negative comment has more weight and therefore changes the sentiment of the comment group. This design allows you to <\/span><b>save time and prioritize which thread of comments you need to address urgently<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here is how the group sentiment is weighted, from heaviest to lightest impact:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Negative<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Undefined<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Positive<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Neutral<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because the neutral tag is the lightest, it has the least impact. Let\u2019s say you want to announce a product launch on your Facebook Page.
