Just to share what was important or insightful so one can feel it despite missing the event. We strive to give you a grasp of what\u2019s happening here (and to make you jealous of the great time we\u2019re having, too).\u00a0?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The conference started with a very strong presentation:<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Is Social Media Honest?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A very good question that emerged then was: <\/span><b><i>Do consumers believe social media?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, the study conducted by YouGov shows that we tend to trust influencers less and less. It\u2019s a clear lesson for brands that they should choose influencers more carefully.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They should not only look at each influencers\u2019 engagement for similar content, but also analyze <strong>whether the engagement varies a lot between sponsored and not sponsored content<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Product placement should look more natural than before so that influencers&#8217; communication will be trustworthy and the brand\u2019s image won\u2019t be ruined.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s be honest, we all know that how Kim Kardashian looks on Instagram isn&#8217;t how people look on a daily basis. The phenomenon of people distrusting and mocking influencers was mentioned many times already during Social Media Week London 2019. The Consumer Perspective&#8221;<\/p><\/div>\n<h2><strong>Fun and social media &#8211; a surprisingly unsurprising alliance<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>\u201cSocial media was supposed to be fun\u201d<\/em> was the title of another talk which, surprisingly, was fun indeed. People like fun, desire fun and often miss the fun in their daily life. However, social media pretty often is not fun anymore. Rather, it&#8217;s just one more mundane daily chore, between checking mail and weather forecast (yes, it\u2019s true). In their groundbreaking mission of <\/span><b>making your newsfeed fun again<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the speakers from Grey agency provided us with some examples of how a brand can contribute to reaching this ambitious goal while interacting with other brands. \u201cReal fun is built on spontaneity and surprise,\u201d they said. On the other hand, validation from others or showing others what we&#8217;re up to is definitely not fun. Many things changed since <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/2015\/09\/sotrender-at-social-media-week-london\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social Media Week London in 2015, which we reviewed\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">too. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The venue at Queen Elizabeth II Centre is wide and well-lit. If tired with presentations, one can just have a walk outside to admire Westminster Abbey, the House of Parliament and Pro-Brexit protests. The audience is pretty diverse. There is a number of people from big brands and big agencies, especially among those sharing their experience at the stage, but also many representatives of smaller companies.
