You can see this within their sales teams, where a client\u2019s decision making process is much longer and more complicated. Generally speaking, these clients are different than clients in other markets, e.g. FMCG &#8211; they don\u2019t make decisions at a moment\u2019s notice nor are they window shoppers &#8211; they don&#8217;t feel the desire to own a specific item just after seeing it. When it comes to clients like these, its difficult to answer their needs or bring their attention to them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is why it\u2019s so important for brands to better understand their clients in the IT industry. \u00a0Just look at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.f-secure.com\/en_US\/f-secure\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">F-Secure<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; a company which specializes in Internet security software both for individuals and companies, as well as ensuring the online privacy of their clients. Here\u2019s the rundown: we created buyer personas by gathering information about their interests, their characteristics, what and who influences them, and who they are. We aimed to uncover information that would help create more effective campaigns and better reach these people. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An important factor throughout the analysis was how F-Secure products are sold. They\u2019re added to the telecommunications services of leading providers (e.g. Plus and Netia), not sold autonomously. This is why it was crucial to accurately identify F-Secure\u2019s target audience. Since F-Secure products play a preventive role, it\u2019s important to reach people before any problems with online security occur. This is why the main aim of the research was to <\/span><b>find the differences<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> between Netia\u2019s clients and Polkomtel\u2019s fans. We also wanted to see what was different between representatives of both groups and the average Internet user. Specifically, we wanted to see how their interests differed (not only connected to the product itself or online security in general) as well as defining less-obvious online stops where they could be found. These types of differences are important for planning future activities and creating a successful communication strategy. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The situation was generally difficult, because we could end up with two identical reports. (&#8230;) We were aware of many similarities but we were not interested in them, as it was something we already knew. We wanted to know where are the differences. And those differences were found.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em><strong>Karolina Ma\u0142agocka,<\/strong> Senior Service Marketing Director Italy, Poland, Portugal &amp; Spain, F-Secure Corporation<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some findings weren\u2019t surprising. Which was a good thing, as it was proof that <\/span><b>the results of the research were credible<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. On the other hand, there was some unexpected information, such as a lack of certain influencers or interests among the target audience. We also discovered a few new topics of interests, such as cooking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One assumption, which was abolished by the results of the research, was that the target audience was not engaged by satirical or entertainment portals. We also discovered that while Polkomtel fans have rather mainstream interests, Netia clients have more specific and defined hobbies. This only highlighted the fact that all the activities and messages targeted at these two groups must be changed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our target audience research also involved defining the people, media, and brands which are popular among this group. And at the same time, we wanted to ensure the widest communication possibilities. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We discovered that:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The largest similarities in interests between the two groups occurred in the area of politics and journalism.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Netia\u2019s clients were very interested in technology and telecommunication in general, e.g. in the Dell brand as well as technology portals and blogs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fans of Plus and Plush had an above average interest in people, websites, and brands related to travelling, cooking, parenting, and lifestyle. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These differences in<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">interests between the two groups could be due to the fact that Netia\u2019s clients were mainly men, while Polkomtel\u2019s fans were mainly women. We discovered this by looking at the data provided by the Audience Scan.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_33309\" style=\"width: 773px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33309\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33309\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/influencerzy-fsecureEN.png\" alt=\"influencers, telecoms, audience scan\" width=\"763\" height=\"439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/influencerzy-fsecureEN.png 763w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/influencerzy-fsecureEN-475x273.png 475w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 763px) 100vw, 763px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-33309\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Influencers which interest target audience the most<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s a lot of info, and we haven\u2019t even gotten to the practical part yet.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How do you use such data in practice? <\/strong><\/h2>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Sotrender\u2019s Data Science Team was supposed to find data which will point out why people want to use our products, why they want to pay for them. After all, the analysis was very valuable for us. Combined with the information about the places, where those people are present online, and which are appealing to them, we now know for example that when communicating the benefits of using our product we have to refer to both why they could be willing to pay for it and the websites they visit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>Karolina Ma\u0142agocka, Senior Service Marketing Director Italy, Poland, Portugal &amp; Spain, F-Secure Corporation<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How will the research and its results be used?<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>To change and adjust media plans<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Aspects which were incorrectly assumed to play an important role in the target audience\u2019s interests were re-evaluated (e.g. the satirical websites mentioned before).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>To establish better contact and <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.clinked.com\/client-communication\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">communication with clients<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; Since F-Secure products work in the background and benefit from being less visible to clients, it\u2019s crucial to communicate when and what kind of benefits it delivers. This is why it\u2019s important to know the most effective place to publish such information. On the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/FSecurePolska\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">F-Secure Facebook Page<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, there was a significant raise in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/2017\/10\/social-media-sotrender-glossary\/\">Interactivity Index<\/a> (InI) &#8211; a metric which helps identify the most engaging content while considering the importance of individual activities. Over the analysed time period the InI was 791, which is 129 higher compared to before.
