Sotrender<\/a> is happy to present the 18th and 19th editions of Twitter Trends UK \u2013 the first report analyzing brand communication on Twitter<\/a> in the UK. But now they\u2019re better than ever before!<\/strong> We\u2019ve updated our trends reports to make them more informative, more comprehensive, and easier to use. Don\u2019t worry, we still analysed reach, engagement, customer service, and content in integral industries. You can still find out who has the most fans or who is the most engaging. What we did change includes the layout, more categories, new metrics and graphs, and more!<\/strong> Read the full report<\/a> and\u00a0see what\u2019s changed and to broaden your perspective on the social media landscape in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

The report contains data for 20 different industries<\/strong> present on Twitter in the UK. These include: Athletes, Blogs and bloggers, Brands, Culture, Digital media, Football clubs, Football players, Games and consoles, Internet portals, Journalists, Media, Music, Musicians, People, Politicians, Press, Radio stations, Sports, Traditional media, and TV stations.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s new in Twitter Trends UK?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Since we updated the Sotrender tool and website, we felt like we couldn\u2019t just leave our trends reports the way they were. So we updated and improved them. We took the time to make sure that they looked nicer, handled better, had more options, and analysed even more data. We\u2019re pretty happy with what we accomplished, and we think you\u2019ll be happy with the changes too!<\/p>\n

    Twitter Trends UK March 2017<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    Let\u2019s start our look of the new reports by checking out March’s ranking<\/a> of different leading industries. The top three most popular industries on Twitter are Musicians (14 794 478 fans), Music (12 189 022 fans), and Culture (7 424 176 fans), closely followed by Football players (7 150 678 fans), Football clubs (6 075 658), and Athletes (6 063 230 fans). If your brand works in music, sports, or is a cultural icon<\/strong>, then you absolutely should be on Twitter. And try using it as customer service<\/a>, which can also be very beneficial.<\/p>\n

    The biggest industries<\/a> on Twitter<\/p><\/div>\n

    The most engaging profiles haven\u2019t changed much, even with the added profiles that came along with our update. Dan Howell<\/strong> sits as the most engaging profile on Twitter (2 289 320 engaged users), with Manchester United<\/strong> (1 389 025 engaged users) and J.K. Rowling<\/strong> (1 285 559 users) evening out the top three. The most engaging profiles on Twitter are typically cultural icons, musicians, and sports teams. It\u2019s worth taking some notes from these profiles, as they know exactly how to appeal to their audience and keep them engaged.<\/p>\n

    The top tweet this March<\/a> was made by Louis Tomlinson<\/strong>, tweeting a simple happy birthday message to his mom. If you\u2019ve been keeping up with trends, you\u2019ll know that One Direction<\/strong> and the group’s members get an insane amount of engagement on all their tweets, always topping the rankings.<\/p>\n

And Harry<\/strong> Styles<\/strong> had the third most successful tweet, sharing information and concern about people who still don\u2019t have access to safe drinking water. What these top posts show you is that no matter the topic, you can appeal to your audience to grab their attention and get them engaged.<\/p>\n

    Twitter Trends UK April 2017<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    This April<\/a>, One Direction was finally knocked off its throne<\/strong> as the biggest profile on Twitter. BBC Breaking<\/strong> news rose to the number one spot with 31 789 991 followers, surpassing One Direction\u2019s<\/strong> 31 765 302 followers. This has only\u00a0happened one other time<\/a> in the entirety of our trends reports, and it\u2019s great to see another brand on top. Especially a news outlet, which people have been taking more and more interest in recent months.<\/p>\n

    It doesn’t happen often, but there they are at number 2<\/a>.<\/p><\/div>\n

    The most engaging profiles were Dan Howell<\/strong> (2 504 248 engaged users), Manchester United<\/strong> (1 988 072 engaged users), and Chelsea FC<\/strong> (1 465 320 engaged users). Dan Howell\u2019s unique style and humor remains engaging to audiences, whereas the rest of the ranking shifted between the remaining music, sports<\/a>, icon, and news<\/a> profiles.<\/p>\n

    Although One Direction<\/strong> is no longer the biggest profile on Twitter UK, they\u2019re still making the most successful tweets. The group along with a few members had numerous of the most engaging tweets this April, with Liam Payne<\/strong> and Louis Tomlinson<\/strong> publishing the very best ones. Like usual, they\u2019re top posts were supportive and just little bit self-promotional<\/strong>, which is a good practice for almost any brand.<\/p>\n
