Nowadays, almost no one could imagine their life &#8211; both personal and professional &#8211; without Facebook in it. Although Facebook may be developed and successful enough, there is still room for improvement. And Facebook makes the most of it by consistently implementing new changes and releasing updates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><b>What reasons are there for still changing Facebook?<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They can feel their competition breathing down their back &#8211; especially <strong>Snapchat<\/strong>, which they tried to buy in 2013 (and now they want to beat with some changes you\u2019ll find below)! <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Everything around them is developing, so they can\u2019t rely on the \u2018status quo\u2019 all the time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This particular social media platform doesn\u2019t stop growing &#8211; <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/264810\/number-of-monthly-active-facebook-users-worldwide\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">they are still gaining more active users month-by-month<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Users are demanding and expecting more.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They need to take care of business on Facebook, so changes are made for the benefit of advertising, targeting, and promoting.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They still need to look for some more methods of monetization, as almost every business does.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facebook\u2019s founder and team could get complacent after achieving such success, but\u2026 they apparently don\u2019t want to as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/isconnectivityahumanright\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mark Zuckerberg\u2019s vision is to connect the world<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mark Zuckerberg aims to put the entire world online\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/F8N3wGjiPYg?start=36&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>But another reason could just be their desire to rule the social media world and make us all use only Facebook. For everything.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facebook has changed in many areas &#8211; both for brands and users, but also within Messenger\u2019s features. Some of the changes have been applied only to users in specific countries, some are still tested, so it is easy to lose track and become confused. We prepared a list with short descriptions of the most crucial changes to Facebook in 2016 in our opinion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.broadbandsearch.net\/blog\/what-facebook-knows-about-me\"><em>Would you like to know what Facebook knows about you in 2019?\u00a0<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><b>Changes for brands:<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1.The <strong>new layout for Facebook Pages<\/strong> offers more opportunities for tabs to be visible (and clickable, finally!). It gives brands more motivation to update them with some essential information &#8211; even if you scroll through the page, they are still visible in the left-hand column, so it\u2019s a waste to leave them un-updated. Also, the cover photo and avatar positions have changed &#8211; so the whole cover photo is now visible, no longer hiding behind the avatar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/facebook.com\/Sotrender\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-23835 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/sotrender_widok.jpg\" alt=\"Facebook New Profiles - Sotrender profile\" width=\"947\" height=\"560\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/sotrender_widok.jpg 947w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/sotrender_widok-475x281.jpg 475w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/sotrender_widok-768x454.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/sotrender_widok-600x355.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 947px) 100vw, 947px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><i>PRACTICAL TIP -&gt; You can use external apps for your tabs &#8211; try <\/i><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/clickapps.eu\/\"><b><i>Click Apps<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i> or <\/i><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tabfoundry.com\/\"><b><i>Tabfoundry<\/i><\/b><\/a><b><i> to add some interactive content, photos and modules like newsletter or contest.\u00a0<\/i><\/b><b><i>Also, check if your cover photo still fits &#8211; maybe it\u2019s high time to resize it?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>2. There is a new, slightly organic and free way of getting more fans. Now you can <b>invite people<\/b>, like users who liked posts on your Page, to like it. But only as a Page, not a private profile. To make the most of it, you should have a lot of likes on your posts &#8211; and to get there, it\u2019s a good idea to use paid promotion. Unless all of your posts go viral or are willingly shared &#8211; then this way is totally free. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><b>PRACTICAL TIP -&gt; Try to make a campaign focused on Page Post Engagement to get a few likes from people potentially interested in your content. Then, use the mentioned option and invite them to like your Page.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>3. Facebook is improving their advertising options all the time, trying to stay above the competition. They updated both <b>campaign objectives <\/b>and<b> placements for paid promotion. A new campaign objective, \u201cIncrease Brand Awareness\u201d, <\/b>combines both reach and attention and helps you find your most reactive audience. When it comes to placements, Facebook is testing <strong>Messenger<\/strong> (redirecting users straight to Messenger to \u2018talk\u2019 to the brand about the offer) and <strong>Groups<\/strong> for putting adverts here. News Feed may be seen as a bit overcrowded with adverts, so this step didn\u2019t come as a surprise. Also, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.facebook.com\/\">Canvas<\/a><\/strong> is a great and interesting advertising option, but it works on mobile only.<\/p>\n<p><b>PRACTICAL TIP -&gt; If you have a lot of great visual content, some spare time, and your target group is mobile-focused, try to create Canvas ads. They look fresh, new, modern and may bring you some good effects.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"www.canvas.facebook.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-23817 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/canvas-950x348.jpg\" alt=\"Facebook Canvas\" width=\"950\" height=\"348\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/canvas-950x348.jpg 950w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/canvas-475x174.jpg 475w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/canvas-768x281.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/canvas-600x220.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/canvas.jpg 1190w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 950px) 100vw, 950px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4. \u201cWhere are my Page likes?\u201d &#8211; said every Social Media Manager some time ago. <strong>Likes just disappeared<\/strong> and were not visible on the main page. Although they now are disappearing and reappearing again, on and off, this may show you what direction Facebook is going &#8211; instead of promoting pages, they want brands to focus on paid content distribution.<\/p>\n<p><b>PRACTICAL TIP -&gt; Facebook likes may be gone sooner or later, so you shouldn\u2019t be focused only on reaching next numbers of followers. Instead of this, put your focus into quality and engagement.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>5. Facebook Live <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is one of the most important features for brands on Facebook that was introduced this year. Increasingly more and more brands are making the most of the opportunity of communicating with their fans this way &#8211; and fans truly love it! Facebook is now testing another thing connected to live video &#8211; soon brands will be able to <strong>SCHEDULE<\/strong> it! Gathering people for webinars, concerts, conferences, or Q&amp;A sessions is going to be a piece of cake &#8211; and all webinar tools will tremble with fear. But there is still some room for improvements on this matter. Maybe you should show your audience one day of your brand\u2019s life, or a few mins from a great event you take part in?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>6. A few new options for brands appeared in <b>Messenger<\/b> &#8211; e.g. Messenger Greetings, which allows brands to introduce themselves a bit before users type their messages. And there\u2019s <b>Bots<\/b>, which are being successfully implemented by more and more brands, giving the impression that users are talking to real people on the other end. They allow you to set up your personalized Response Assistant, Messenger Greeting and Instant replies.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>7.<b> Instant articles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are game-changers, and not only for news publishers. Newsfeed suggests content (from your friends) that you may have missed when you weren\u2019t browsing Facebook. It\u2019s also noticeable on your profile, in the \u2018friends\u2019 column.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Facebook Reactions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> were regarded as a game-changer when released in February 2016 (previously tested in Ireland and Spain). Replacing \u201clike\u201d with a couple of other buttons have been warmly welcomed by media, brands, and users, having gotten quite popular since then.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/reactions-image-en_us.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23867 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/reactions-image-en_us.png\" alt=\"Facebook Reactions icons\" width=\"554\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/reactions-image-en_us.png 554w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/reactions-image-en_us-475x197.png 475w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 554px) 100vw, 554px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" href=\"http:\/\/newsroom.fb.com\/news\/2016\/10\/introducing-marketplace-buy-and-sell-with-your-local-community\/\">Marketplace<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is one of the newest updates to Facebook &#8211; and it clearly reflects Facebook\u2019s strategy about ruling more than just social media, but the Internet in general &#8211; by gently \u2018eliminating\u2019 all advertising websites and moving their users to Facebook. Marketplace can be seen as competition for Gumtree, OLX, or Craigslist &#8211; allowing users to buy, sell, and swap things in their local community. Although it has been stopped recently due <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/wersm.com\/facebook-marketplace-illegal-listings\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to the high volume of illegal listings<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Facebook is working on solving this problem ASAP. Marketplace \u2018replaced\u2019 the position of Messenger in iOS app, moving Messenger to the top left corner and showing how big of a gamechanger Marketplace could be.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23873 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/pdp_us-475x422.jpg\" alt=\"Facebook Marketplace\" width=\"475\" height=\"422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/pdp_us-475x422.jpg 475w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/pdp_us-768x682.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/pdp_us-950x843.jpg 950w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/pdp_us-600x533.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/pdp_us.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 475px) 100vw, 475px\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over 100 million people use Facebook Events daily, and Facebook just released \u201c<\/span><b>Events from Facebook<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d &#8211; an app dedicated to following and recommending events.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just implemented &#8211; a special <strong>unified inbox for Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger<\/strong>, allowing pages and brands to have all messages in one place. This comes as a blessing to big brands that struggled with using multiple apps and jumping from one to another. One inbox will be a significant improvement for their communication.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23845 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/facebook-inbox.jpg\" alt=\"Facebook Inbox for notifications\" width=\"738\" height=\"366\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/facebook-inbox.jpg 738w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/facebook-inbox-475x236.jpg 475w, https:\/\/www.sotrender.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/facebook-inbox-600x298.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 738px) 100vw, 738px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Facebook Workplace<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a useful novelty, especially for companies who want to run a professional brand manager on Facebook. This improvement allows them to use Facebook not only to communicate in an \u2018unofficial\u2019 way or only for private purposes, but also for work. It may replace e.g. Slack, offering features including live videos, groups, and combining a few companies into a specific project or simplifying the management of your community and reporting your effects.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Local changes <\/b><\/h2>\n<p><em><b>(now tested, probably to be rolled out soon)<\/b><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The brand new <\/span><b>News Feed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> layout, with a division into <\/span><b>categories<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as Travel and Relationships. Finally your News Feed won\u2019t be as messy as it used to be, and maybe Facebook, by testing it, hopes that you won\u2019t miss any important updates. The only users spoiled with this feature were those in Poland initially, and now users in Australia as well. It simply gives you the possibility to make your own story and publish it on Messenger.
